Guided By Your Strong Gentle Hand Poem by Melissia Ann Senter

Guided By Your Strong Gentle Hand

Guided by your strong gentle hand
Not understanding everything along the way
Indeed I will admit at times I was a tyrant
Devilish even at times, but you were there to guide me
Even when I thought you didn't like me all that well
I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for your strong gentle hand

Beside me is where you always were
Yet at times I felt all alone, you were there in the shadows

Your were like the light shining through for me, cheering me
On what ever my dreams were or was not, you made me
I understand that I was special in many ways, when no one else did
Remembering the many times I was mean and your hand was not so gentle

Stories you would tell to make me feel better and to teach me
That all things in life aren't always, what they appear to be you would show me the truth
Regarding the things I did wrong, like the time I spoke of tree
The orange tree that grew in our back yard, but you knew that they didn't grow in WV
Never could I lie to you because you knew the minute, a lie came out of my mouth
Gentle heart and soul of you Mother is what always got me through

Giving me the best life a girl could ever ask for
You were my strength, my rock, my shoulder to cry on
Even when I was bad you would be there for me
Telling me how wrong I was, Yet your strong gentle hand would stroke my hair
Leaving me so that I could think of the bad thing, I had done, knowing that I would soon understand
Every time I would run in and say I'm sorry mommy, you would just scoop me up in your arms
Always letting me know that You loved me so, and that you would be there always
Dear Mother I would just like to say Thanks you for all you have done for me
As I was Guided by your strong gentle Hands
