Guilty Conscience Poem by Sagar Garg

Guilty Conscience

Silence falls over me at the night,
Covers me in a heavy blanket of darkness and guilt.
I try and exhale my sins but they smother me back
as I am forced to breathe them back in.
The hands on the clock taunt me with their sound,
acknowledging my lack of sleep.
My vision is blurred. My judgement is compromised.
Nothing can undo what I have done.
The rain will not wash away my guilty conscience.
The sun will not brighten my inner darkness.
It will only serve to expose the truth
when the shadows dissipate and unearth my face.
Denial is no longer an option, it never was...
