Gurgle Poem by Handel Glassberg

Gurgle

Rating: 5.0

Gurgling stream of consciousness
A leaf after my own heart
Irish wit that mothers shepherds
Dawdling fields of beaten grass

A singing stream runs through the street
Past youthful maidens dodging sleet
Until the changing traffic light
Restores to them a maiden's plight

Gurgle gurgle little brook
Past waterfall and dumpy cook
Past dreams of passion new and raw
Past baby rooks too young to caw

To come to rest at last in lakes
That hold the trout in mirrored silence
Asking nothing more from jakes
Than that they please refrain from violence
