H2n2 Poem by Joe Fraccalvieri

H2n2

Before her, there was darkness
But now-- I see the light
To the world around me, I was blind
but her faith has restored my sight

I was lost in a storm of misery—
as if tossed afloat from a boat
With no sign of land from the raging sea,
I'd flail and I'd gasp and I'd grope…And I prayed to be rescued
by one such as she
who would find me
and cast me a rope

She took me from there-- from panic and fear--
from pestilence, anguish, and gloom…
Like a breath of fresh air-- lovely and fair--
that had found its way to this room…
She removed the boulder
of death and despair
from what would have become my tomb

Grateful, was I, to finally be free--
Pleased, beyond words, that she came
Reaching her hand, I pulled her to me
And asked-- if she'd tell me her name
She lowered her head
"Pandora", she said
as though for all of this dread she's to blame

I held her hips-- to my surprise
I kissed her lips-- I searched her eyes
I surveyed every pain that was within my scope
And when I was sure that the sun would still rise,
I smiled
and then whispered…
"I'm Hope"
