Half Chance Poem by Way Lenn

Half Chance

I need to change how I’m living;
I wake up sometimes gasping for air
After too much drink,
It’s like my body wants to swallow the world
So as to feel connected again,
Not bordered by flesh and skin,
But to have everything in me and of me
And for me to be of and in everything.
My life is in danger of being
Wrapped in a cheap coat, like tin.
Really it should be my canvas and my blank page,
Always with an audience of friends and family.
The night is an ocean,
A lot of its depths unknown;
I tinker on the brink of these thoughts
And drift to that in-between place.
My hand hangs in the air and falls
To the locker, clapping me awake
And I swallow more of the world
And roll my eyes like dice.
