By Mohammad A. Yousef
In a world of innocence and joy,
Where laughter echoes with every toy,
A happy childhood is a treasure trove,
Of memories that forever in our hearts, will rove.
Running through fields of green,
Chasing butterflies, a wondrous scene,
The sun shining brightly above,
Filling us with warmth and love.
Climbing trees, scraping knees,
Building castles with sand and leaves,
Imagination knows no bounds,
In a happy childhood that astounds.
Playing hide and seek in the park,
Falling down but never in the dark,
Ice cream dripping down our chins,
Smiles on our faces, where happiness begins.
Swinging high on the swing set,
Feeling weightless, no room for regret,
The wind blowing through our hair,
In a happy childhood, free from care.
Sleepovers with friends, telling tales,
Under covers, where our laughter sails,
Midnight feasts of cookies and milk,
In a happy childhood, where worries wilt.
Catching fireflies in a jar,
Watching them flicker like a star,
Magical evenings filled with light,
In a happy childhood, everything feels right.
Drawing pictures with colored crayons,
Creating masterpieces, our little icons,
Proudly displayed on the fridge,
In a happy childhood, where we build our bridge.
Innocence wrapped around our souls,
In a happy childhood, where dreams unfold,
Everything is possible, nothing is rare,
In a happy childhood, filled with love and care.
Riding bikes with friends in tow,
Exploring hidden paths that only we know,
Adventures waiting around every turn,
In a happy childhood, where memories burn.
Picnics under a blanket of blue,
Feasting on sandwiches made by you,
Laughing, singing, dancing with glee,
In a happy childhood, where we are truly free.
Camping out in the backyard,
Telling ghost stories, none too hard,
Giggles and shivers run down our spines,
In a happy childhood, where everything shines.
Baking cookies with grandmother's recipe,
The smell of chocolate filling the air, sticky sweet,
Licking the bowl clean, no morsel left behind,
In a happy childhood, where love is entwined.
Puddle jumping after the rain,
Splashing in joy, forgetting the pain,
Drenched from head to toe, we laugh,
In a happy childhood, where memories will last.
Collecting seashells on the shore,
Listening to waves, wanting more,
Sand between our toes, sun on our backs,
In a happy childhood, where nothing lacks.
Naptime with a teddy bear,
Dreaming of castles in the air,
Safe and secure in a world of dreams,
In a happy childhood, where nothing seems.
Growing up is a part of life,
But a happy childhood, amidst the strife,
Will always be a beacon of light,
Guiding us through the darkest night.
So cherish the memories, hold them close,
In a happy childhood, where love arose,
For in those moments, pure and true,
Lies the essence of all we are and can do.
