Happy New Year 2016 Poem by Dr John Celes

Happy New Year 2016

Are we not better off than parents dear?
Isn't world in better shape than yester-years?
Why then be pessimistic, live with fear?
So, wear a smile and laugh as New Year nears!

Forget the sorrow, pain, the old year brought;
Remember just the good things God gave us;
With hope anew, courage, to walk we ought;
Our loving God who cares will surely bless!

Resolve, we must for better things to do;
Our selfishness must just be cast away;
So, count the blessings God gave me and you;
Let's pray, each dawn will bring a better day!

Our patriotism must be forefront;
Our love for fellowmen must fill our hearts;
For truth and fairness, we must daily hunt;
More sanctity must bathe our body parts.

Let's wipe the tears off faces of brethren;
Let's help the needy and downtrodden souls;
Let's make the world a place akin heaven;
Let's don a dress of purity for roles!

We must be less corrupt in future days;
We must avoid more wars and live in peace;
We must in life, give up our sinful ways;
We must find cures anew for each disease.

The heinous crimes must vanish by resolve;
The fights within the nation ought to stop;
Our vexing life-problems, we ought to solve;
With labour hard, we must climb to the top.

An optimistic attitude is great;
We should not lie or cheat our fellowmen;
Pray more to God that problems must abate;
Our hearts must turn for virtues, a haven.

Let's learn from past mistakes and be alert;
Security of nation must be prime;
Let's keep the roads, rivers, air without dirt;
Let's make our lives joyful and more sublime.
