Hard Ears Pickney Poem by Camagu Somana

Hard Ears Pickney

Rating: 5.0

"Hard ears pickney dead a sun hot, "
An old Jamaican lady once said.
Nowadays children don't listen
To the elders and that makes me sad.
They are a generation of why not?

Their hard ears early lead them to the grave
And to them ears are meant for Unruly Rave.

Hard ears pickney dead a sun hot,
Dem tink dem kno betta.
In my everyday prayer I ask God to guide them,
‘Cause in so doing I hope to be a trendsetter.
Besides, it's what I was taught.
