They tell me to play hard to get
And so I turn away
But deep inside I really know
That I don't want to play

My heart is screaming out for you
While my eyes remain quite cool
And tho' we are both standing here
Just one of us is the fool

But once before I touched a man
And showed him all my heart
Then all he did was back away
Until we were apart

So I hope that you are patient
'Cause I'll need some time to free me
And until I learn to trust your ways
