Hatikva Poem by Rongyi Rongybaba

Hatikva

Hatikva, the national anthem of Israel was written by Naftali Herz Imber.
Kol od balevav p'nimah (The soul of a Jew yearns) ,
Nefesh Yehudi homiyah (And forward to the East)
Ulfa'atey mizrach kadimah (To Zion, an eye looks)
Ayin l'tzion tzofiyah (Our hope will not be lost,)
Od lo avdah tikvatenu (The hope of two thousand years,)
Hatikvah bat shnot alpayim (To be a free nation in our land,)
L'hiyot am chofshi bartend (The land of Zion and Jerusalem.)
Eretz Tzion v'Yerushalayim

But the melody was a long known and loved tune accross in Europe.
In Hungary the song is a belowed Christian song by the title, ' Tuzed Uram Jezus' in English translation ' The flame of your light in my heart, Jesus'
Here is the Hungarian text:
Tüzed, uram, Jézus szítsd a szívemben,
Lángja lobogjon elevenebben.
Ami vagyok és mind, ami az enyém,
tarsd a kezedben, igazi helyén.
ref
Életem útja örök örömem.
Fény a sötétben csak te vagy nekem.
Hallod imám, és bármi fenyeget,
Nem hagy el engem tart a te kezed!
refr
Szorongat a sátán, de te velem vagy
Hu szabaditom, aki el nem hagy.
Ennek a világnak fekete egén,
Lényed a csillag, sugarad a fény.
ref
Jön az örök nap, már közeledik o,
Mennyei honba hazavinni jo.
Röpke pillanat, mig tart a keseru,
Jézus elém jön, örök a deru. ref
Here is the English version
Start a flame of Your light in me Jesus Christ
Fill up my heart with radiance and life.
What ever I have been, and what ever I'll be
Hold me in your hand, never let me fail
Refr:
You are my water, and the bread I eat
You are my joy, my guiding light in need
You hear my pray and never let me down
You hold me close, and you are never gone.
When the satan close by You are near of me
Faithfully give your arms to support me
In the world of dark nights your name is my hope
You are my star, and you are my safe shore
refr:
When this life is over, you will be with me
You take me up there to my Judgement day
In the last breath I take you will hold my hand
And the fear will cease with the passing air.
refr.
