YOU HEAR THE HEART LEAP is the key action in the poem; otherwise, people are in the posture of waiting and listening intently. Although it must be their hearts that leap and confirm that leaping by sound, it is almost as if the act is happening outside of them. I assume this is so, because they are so alienated from their own feelings. And this poem celebrates a hopeful recovery of their grasp of their emotional natures. I feel that hope also leaping
