Have I Been Here Before Poem by Owen Cullimore

Have I Been Here Before

As I wander through life's highways
Many thoughts run through my head
Have you ever been somewhere you have never been before
And thought why is this place familiar to me instead
It is a very unnerving felling
To think you may have been born many years since past
In a time that you no longer remember clearly at any point
But becomes a mental picture to you at last
I may have lived in the middle ages
Or during the reign of Elizabeth the first
But I could have been fighting during the Napoleonic wars
As a soldier of fortune I may have been so cursed
It beggars belief that we may have lived many different lives
So many eras we could have been around
But it makes me wonder how on earth this could have been
If on death I was buried deep underground.
It is an amazing insight into all those yesteryears
Centuries have gone so quickly it's so true that time flies fast
It is such a meaningful thought or two to wonder what the world was like to live in then
The mind can travel for many years no matter how many have past
Can you imagine if I lived all those years ago
When Cavemen and Women roamed free to live their lives together
Amongst Dinosaurs, Woolly Mammoth's and all the other creatures
That roamed the earth and traveled every where even in inclement weather
A petrifying sight to all and sundry in that frightening world at that time
I hope I may have not been around at that point in time
But what of the future, what will I become
Who Knows maybe to a new life that's more sublime
Or maybe an Alien on a planet light years far away
Traveling the Universe in machines we can only imagine
But whatever the future brings will be different than today
