He'Ll Never Notice Poem by Emma Kessler

He'Ll Never Notice

Rating: 5.0

She speaks quickly
and with a heavily forced ease
As she reveals the identity
of his new love
He was her love
He never noticed
But I did

She stares at him with a fervent longing
A sadness
that can only be described as broken
Hidden nearly perfectly behind her eyes
But only nearly
He doesn't notice
But I do

Every time he passes
As light and unseen as a whisper
Or laughing and smiling
The definition of joy
She smiles as though she has encountered heaven
He shines always in her eyes
He never noticed
But I did

She watches him as he stands with her
Close
He touches her hand softly
Tears begin to run down her heart
as it shatters
She is so good at wearing a mask
He is breaking her heart
But he doesn't notice
He'll never notice
But I do
