He said you write rhymes every day
Of places from here far away
In Australia why do you stay
To grow older and balder and more gray
And talk of your first home afar
That from here you cannot drive to by car
But you can reach there by sea or by sky
So why you stay here makes me wonder why
Since your past in you seems to remain
And your rhymes tell of gray skies and rain
You write rhymes of the streams of the brown trout
And grow old in this land of the south
I did not reply to him since he would not understand
The migrant love of the homeland.
