He Whispers To 'Bonnie' - Poem by Joyce Hemsley

'My own precious darling, I need you tonight
This love is a never-ending story!
Wonderful Bonnie, with beauty and grace
I love you ~ my own Bonnie Laurie
And I pray - all your love is for me.

Bright shining stars set your blue eyes aglow
I am lost in the light of love's glory.
But with early dawn, I will be gone
Away from my sweet Bonnie Laurie.
The cry of the battle is beckoning me.

Across the wild moor, down to the shore
The big ship will wait graciously;
O yes I must go. But surely you know
I'll return Bonnie Laurie to thee.
Dear precious angel, please trust in me.'
