Heart Poem by Joshua Cawthorne

Heart

Lives and hungers for attention. Don’t listen to it.
Lives under intense pressure and is durable…but is not your friend.
Loves and hungers for the lesson minus the experience to make it reality.
It lives like this…because living is its life.
Learns like this…because learning makes its feelings feel right.
It’s alive – creation of a monster.
Given to us at birth
Given up for adoption at 13
Repurchased to a foster home - I turned 23
Not the same home but same body.
Different mind different times the heart eventually fell in line.
Lives where you put it, deals with what you give it, and feeds on what you tell it.
