Heart Poem by Neil Graham Marsden

Heart

Faltering heart pump waves of heat
into this freezing chest,
such places have been battered in the storm.
Sustain me with a rhythm of your own
beating I have long since failed to feel.

Be here when the autumn sunlight sends
spectres flashing out between
cascading deadened leaves.
Be here for the winter long.
