Heart In A Box Poem by Reed Dietiker

Heart In A Box

They asked if I had a heart, 'no', I told them.
I have no emotions, I am paranoid, scared to feel the emotions I lost.
My heart and emotions literally went out to that person, but they never noticed it.
It has no return adress, no name, but theirs written on it.
Nobody knows what I feel, not even me, I have no feelings at all, all I know is that nothing will ever be the same.
Thats all I'll ever think about.
I shake constantly, scared to have that feeling come back and haunt me.
But death's coolness is all I stand for,
Living life to the end when the end is in the past
And death is near, full with fear, so I gave
My Heart In A Box
