Heartbreak Poem by Khumo Mhlanga

Heartbreak

Rating: 5.0

The dawning of devastation
Bewildered stares at questions of your location
Advise my mouth on how to unleash
The primal kaleidoscope of raw post-scab removal emotion -
Elicited by my heart's journey over shards of a shattered dream

So I implode at inaudible frequencies...
Face masked by torn hands:
I used them to dig through the rubble left in your quake/wake
Access to air leaving me panicked -
Overwhelmed at the notion of being a fumbling toddler again
One foot in front of the other...
My heart balanced on crutches
But my steps keep leading back to your memory

Still 'vulturing' after this long...
Not yet ready to bury our carcass

Will that moment ever come?
