Heaven On Trial Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Heaven On Trial

It seems that God knows always best
That God is never wrong
If only Heaven man could test
How pure would be their song?

Does God stand true to all He’s said?
Does favouritism reign?
How come some find no rest when dead?
And some get born again

Why should the past condemn the soul?
Why should God even care?
Why should we burn as human coal?
Can He be so unfair?

Will Heaven stand before the throne?
Will God not answer true?
Is God content to watch man groan?
Will Heaven share their view?

But has it not occurred that way?
Did God not stand on trial?
Was not Christ’s life laid bear that day?
Condemned to death so vile

Did God not pay the price of shame?
Blameless of sin and guilt
While man stood by cursing His name
While perfect blood was spilt

God stands unique faultless and sure
His deeds are perfect love
His motives blameless His heart pure
And innocent as a dove

Who else but God can judge mankind?
No heart from Him is sealed
He knows our words He reads our mind
Our very soul’s revealed
