HEAVY, LIGHT Poem by Nachoem M. Wijnberg

HEAVY, LIGHT

You can give hundreds of examples
of what weight is, but you remember
only one.

When you weigh
one hundred and twenty kilos because
you wanted to bump into someone
who would tell you: you can't always
be this heavy.

And one more: a child
walking between his parents
and holding their hands
while they lift him up together and swing him
as they walk.

You make the light heavy,
because you're not good at it,
and do not want to learn from others.

After that you only get asked
for things that are heavy
and you hope that in the meantime
- you can't say how -
you will get better at lightness.
