Helena Poem by Alfred Ramos

Helena

One day you wrote into my life
Every line cut into me like a knife
I sensed a heart of gold
Yet a yearning to fill an empty hole
But I also sensed you had spine
Ready to put it all on the line
You were living on the fringes
Absorbing pain in binges
At risk the fragility of your existence
Too young to put up much resistance
So I'll stick to you like a burr
I'll be more to you than just a blur
Because despair is not a choice
Your words have too much voice
But I didn't come to save you
Just to show you the strength God gave you
So I came to help you help yourself
Put misery behind you, up on the darkest shelf
Together we'll raise dead dreams from the grave
Because there is so much to save
We'll paint rainbows and play with butterflies
And happiness will be the final prize
You can be the change we want in this world
So Go Girl, Go Girl
