Helpless Mother's Innocent Icon Poem by Stephen Styris

Helpless Mother's Innocent Icon

Helpless Mother's Innocent Icon
------------------

A sparking dropp drops from two tiny lips,
And now in a watery thread very gently it slips,
The beautiful threaded-dropp very slowly slows down,
And at last it comfortably falls to the ground.

Five delicate fingers now wipe the face,
Before a second dropp could join the race,
And now two twinkling eyes flooded with water,
Start spying around the factory for its mother.

Helpless mother is busy carrying bricks on her head,
The father probably busy in some drinking trade;
Seeing the child crying, the tired mother becomes angry,
Though she well knows that her icon is indeed hungry!

Watching a pair of beautiful birds, hunger the child forgets,
And now, another sparkling dropp gently starts another long race...
