Her Cries Poem by Dominique Lange

Her Cries

sometimes when she says “Oh I’m Fine” she wants someone to look at her in the eyes and say “Tell Me The Truth” when someone really loves you their not suppose to hurt you right? and if they do how do you react? When she cries the makeup runs from her eyes and it spills the truth about how she really feels.
Its not how bad the problem is, but how badly its hurting the person who has it and its hard to answer the question “What’s Wrong? ” when nothing is ever alright her eyes burn from these tears you’d think over the years she’d learned her lesson look behind the mascara the eyeliner and the shiny lip gloss and maybe you will see the girl you are looking at isn’t really her at all.
Its someone she pretends to be to hide the bruises and fake smiles to cover up the tears that build up behind the wall she’s trying to keep up she’s mad at herself, not at you, she’s mad for always being so nice, always apologizing for the things she didn’t do flinching every time someone raises their arm or hand.
There’s a smile on her face, but she doesn’t know why its there, she puts it on to satisfy all the people that don’t even care after a while you learn the difference between loving someone and hurting them you begin to learn that love is a gift it makes you feel special and getting hurt means s slap across the face or an object thrown at you.
One moment your in love with someone and the next your fearing them with all your might she wishes she could stop the hate cause verbal abuse hurts too “it shouldn’t hurt me” she tells herself this all the time but it hurts to know no one can help her she thinks every time she gets hit or verbally abused she thinks “what did I do I must be stupid I wish I wasn’t ugly I wish I were a better person to make those people happy.”
she tries to hide away the memories she tries to hide in the dark so he cant get to her so no one can get to her she hides in the corner the only place she can think without the yelling and fighting she hides from the man that beats her when he can get his hands on her the screams and cries no one hears the bruises she hides to satisfy him.
Her cries have never been heard and no one cares if she dies or not her face is bloody and it hurts to wipe the blood away and the memories are hard to forget she scream in the middle of the night cause the pain never goes away she’s not allowed to tell anyone about her life after school or when she is alone.
She cries to make the pain go away she cries in hope things will get better in her screwed up life she wonders why she’s in this mess why she cant just walk away and leave it be but they follow her everywhere and she cant escape them or her fears and her wounds just get deeper and deeper her cries will never be heard
