Her Dawn Poem by Harlequin Rose

Her Dawn

...and at first light
she takes to the streets
because she loves the smell of dawn
a secret...revealed.

She covers the waterfront
and sings Billie Holiday songs
at the top of her lungs
but this is misleading
she struts like she's got noting to lose
and off in the distance
the river breeze tickles a field of barley
but this is fleeting.

...and the world is waking
so she takes to the shadows
for she's nothing more than a ghost
when dawn is thru
a secret...concealed.
