'Her 'if-less' today'
To her—
good or bad—
they’re one in the same;
But not him—
no not him—
he’s always playing their game.
“You’re either winning or losing, ”
that’s something he’d say—
yea, he’s concerned with the before and after,
when all she sees is today.
Her perspective changed,
just a few rolls back.
She sees everything in him;
He sees all that he lacks.
And while he’s blind and confused.
And she’s losing her grip—
for the tighter she squeezes,
the more that he slips.
So she lets him go—
for he’ll continue to play.
Yea, he’s stuck on the before and after—
And she’s moving on…moving on…
through an ‘if-less’ today.
