Her Poison Poem by Jen Power

Her Poison

Love is a shadow. Once I got a taste of her poison it engulfed me. Leaving me there to edure the intoxication. As the poison receeds, it lingered over me. Planting the seed. The seed of weakness. I insisted. You resisted. I was blinded by your light. Dimming, regaining my sight. Drowning in the quicksand. Reaching, brick by brick, Devouring every hint of humanity that resided within. Fixated on the truth. Truth being, that your venomous words will seep through the cracks.
