Here And Gone Poem by Alexis DeLancey

Here And Gone

The pictures and stories that
You left behind
Are the only remainder of
You I can find

Nothing was really bad between us
We just grew apart
And our relationship, it grew
From sugar-sweet to tart

Looking back on all those days
We had a good long run
We did fight every now and then
But for the most part we had fun

But then the cracks began to
Surface, between you and I
Petty differences came to light
And our love began to die

Though I love you still
Life moves much too fast
To hold on to a shadow
To a ghost of the past

And now, I can see
Now that you are gone
I thought that we were built to last
But it looks like I was wrong
