Here Was... Poem by Majid Gaggi

Here Was...

Here was...
Here were our great ancestors
In this open land of welfare
Live in good bliss and prosperity
Until inauspicious and the scourge moment came
Before one thousand four hundred odd years
It was a moment of bad time
When the yellow wind start
Coming from the south of the desert
Overcome them as locusts do
When sweeping the Green Earth
And turn it into a barren wasteland withers
Dropping their fatigue and misery
And their days became black darkness
After being very pure and white
Here in these dark days
Grandchildren live the same fuss
After being driven out in the darkness night
Of the land and the ancestral homes of the great
And became displaced persons in the open land
Laying on earth and covered by sky
With the need for food and medicine
It has never been visited by any officials
Ask only help from the Lord of heaven
Put upon them mercy, O helper of poor
And rescued them from this plight
O merciful you are, merciful and compassionate
