Hidden From The Light Poem by Cassie Potter

Hidden From The Light

I told you to go,
I told you to run.
I told you to fly,
Fly away from the sun.

But you ran towards the light,
Leaving me ever-so free.
Until I realize that you ran away from me.

I hide in the darkness,
Shying away from the light.
Steering clear cause it's ever so bright.

You shine in the dark,
heeding only kind words.
While I sit there thinking,
'It's ever so absurd.'

I wish I could tell you that I miss your light,
That you showed me through my darkest night.
But to tell you that I can not do,
For the fear that I might hurt you.

To protect my heart and the love inside,
I shy away from the light.
If life took you away, I'd forever cry,
Stuck with this darkness, hidden away from sight.
