Highway - Poem by Lauren B Called

He was like a fever

a whisper in her ear

a fire burning through her

a kiss after each tear

so proper in appearance

he ravished her by sight

as an angel draws near

only to devour with it's bite

they walked normal side by side

like people do

all the while he could see everything

without needing to look away from you

percipient cannot begin

to name his talent true

as some didn't notice the unraveling

as they stood in his angelic hue

his lilted stride revealed

secret rhythms in his mind

thoughts soared across life's waves

that even cold hands could not hide
