Hill Poem by Zoe Hahn

Hill

Rating: 5.0

One step forward,
And three steps back.
I'm climbing towards,
The top of the hill.

Every breath I take,
Scorches my soul.
Every move I make,
Tears me open.

One step forward,
And three steps back.
They keep me captive,
Inside their dark, cold arms.

I'm trapped,
At the bottom of the hill.
I try to climb,
But I slip and fall.

One step forward,
And three steps back.
It gets colder and darker,
Each day I stay.

Some say happiness is at the top,
But I can never reach it.
I'm always stuck,
In the pit of despair.

One step forward,
And three steps back.
I can't quite see,
What comes next.

I'm losing my will,
On finding the way out.
I'm letting go of my heart,
And grasping onto the doubts and fears.

No steps forward,
And many steps back.
The darkness is closer,
It's becoming my friend.

Instead of climbing,
I'm sinking.
Instead of hoping,
I'm doubting.

The farther down I go,
The more I disappear.

Until there's no more.
