His Name Poem by Jasmine Williams

His Name

The demons of my mother and father
Took me just the same
I sold my self to the highest extreme
Just to watch the superficial riches rain
The message never reached me
When it was time to make the change
Once, touched by the preachers hand
He tried to make me understand
How the devil does his reign
When I needed guidance the most
I Shunned it for the money and the fame
Now, I hope my cries are not in vain

Now the ghosts of my sins are haunting
I wonder can he hear my screams?
As the demons taunt me in my dreams
They get high off my rekindled shame
My dark soul is left unrest again
While in search for my humanity
I suppose it's lost unto the ravine
No longer fun to play the devils games
My morals are further strained
I have none else to blame
As my world is set to flames
Although screaming brings me pain
I hope my cries are not in vain
