Holding On ... Poem by Bancroft Boreland

Holding On ...

Loneliness raps her arms around me
Because you aren’t here to comfort me
My heart cries as your memories
Come rushing back to me
When you are not with me
Oxygen becomes like a poisonous gas
And I find it hard to breathe
So many are the things I’ve wanted
Yet you’re the only thing I need
I am hungry for the warmth of your touch
I am thirsty for the sweetness of your lips

I’d like to write your name on every star
And tell the sun how bright you are
I have nothing and yet
If I have you I have everything
Like a sailor, I am lost in the sea of love
And your heart is the lifeline
To which I keep holding on…
