Holding Space Poem by Samantha Meyrick

Holding Space

Rating: 5.0

It's the final countdown
the days are passing by,
each one getting shorter,
the sun lower in the sky.

My heart starts to sink
I can't believe it's true
it's been almost a year
since I gave birth to you.

You came silently to us
you showed such huge fight.
The best of Christmas gifts;
a ray of shining light.

Your birthday tinged with sadness
at meeting you too soon.
I held onto you so tightly
in the light of the Christmas moon.

The memories I hold dear;
your tiny, perfect face.
In my heart for you my son
there will be eternal space.

Such beautiful rendition of words in a sad story of loss, embellished in poetic rhyme and rhythm. A well encapsulated piece of poetry elegantly penned from the heart. Death is a bad reaper - often going after unripe fruits. May The Lord Almighty be your strength. Thanks for sharing Samantha.
