Home At Last Poem by Laurence Overmire

Home At Last

Do not believe that when you die
That that is the end of you

It's time to awaken
Do not live in the separateness
That blinds us to the truth

You are a part of the Universe
You are connected
To the whole

When you pass beyond the curtain
Of the illusion of this drama
Your atoms and molecules

Will return to the place of
Beginning
You will return to the cosmic

Dust

And from the heart of who you were
Will come a flower
A tree, a rock

A mountain climbing to the sky

Your voice will be heard
In a spark of sunlight
The wisp of a comet's tail

And even perhaps

In the laboring breath
Of another
Grateful human being

This is the miracle
Embrace it
Love it

Live well
And be at peace
With everything

And everyone.
