A northern sun, a gentle shore,
My heart remembers evermore.
Fish in nets, filled daily need,
Childhood lessons, life indeed.
A bustling house, a crowded space,
Poverty etched on every face.
But kindness shared, a loving word,
The best of riches to be heard.
Adventure called, a restless soul,
Independence took, expected toll.
I left my home, a distant shore,
To find a life unknown before.
In foreign lands, my love I found,
On solid ground, my feet are bound.
New words I speak, a different tongue,
But home's old song in my heart
still sung.
Perhaps one day, the money right,
I'll travel back to see the light.
The midnight sun, the sunlit shore,
My heart remembers evermore.
