Hope Among The Wind Poem by Kikee Doma Bhutia

Hope Among The Wind

Rating: 5.0

Winter cold
shining bright,
lazy sun
hiding from the sight.
cold hands,
holding tight
from the other hands
searching for warmth
lost home,
families left behind
hating eyes,
judging from the corners
still holding on,
still holding tight
saw some death,
some ships sank,
we made it to the shore
to the foreign land
seeking fro shelter,
seeking for help
looking for better future,
looking for a place to rest.
they welcomed,
with cameras and huge words
they gave us shelter and a plot of land
some cash and some security
still my heart ponders
looks behind,
to what has been left behind
the things i lost
but then the future looks dear and
for that everything else counts
we will struggle
a year and a half maybe
judging eyes and hateful demise
will kill one's heart every night
but then the future looks bright
maybe someday we will look behind and
find it was all right
and that's what this winter bought
little sunshine, little wind
little life after the war,
a life as a refugee
