When the world seems to scary,
as it often does to me,
I pull out my shoebox and
examine my hopes.
The biggest one is for the future
because I had a vision
and my hope is for it to come true
so i'll just examine it
in this vision I play with little children
at the daycare center which is my dream job,
and wave goodbye to the last one
and smile at their mom who leads them home
when i come home
no one is there
and i toss my keys on the counter
and set down my purse
i walk into the bedroom and
he's lying in our bed asleep
with one arm on his stomach
and i stop to smile
I crawl into bed next to him
and lace my fingers with his
together we sleep after a tiring day
perfectly happy in paradise
I dont know who he is yet
but i smile as I hang on to my hope
because one day i will know
what its like to be loved
