Hopeless? Poem by Christopher Seeger

Hopeless?

The hope is gone and there's nothing left.
It's my fault and I pay the price.
Turn my cheek to the pain.
Take the blow and roll the dice.

I fight between my brain and heart.
Do I hold on and hope for the best?
Do I move on and begin anew?
Defined by choices; head or chest?

Do I leave or do I chase?
Can we make it in the end?
Make a choice and live with it.
What may lie around the bend?

Chase I must with my heavy heart.
Will she break it on the ground?
I turn the bend and see her there.
I call her name, she turns around...
