House Divided Poem by Day Williams

House Divided

A house divided against itself
It cannot stand
Like love unrequited
it cannot stand
Like when I'm blind-sided
it cannot stand

It cannot stand
Your plans so grand
Your cash in hand
Your evil plans

You say it's justified
That you divide
The red from the blue
The darks from the whites
And me from you
In your 451 Fahrenheit
Brave new world zoo

This cannot stand
Your phony fairyland
I run through a no man's land
But never reach the promised land

You built a house
You know will fall
You take off your blouse
At a coffee house
And have the gall
To join a cabal

It cannot stand
Your plans so grand
Your cash in hand
Your evil plans

Your house will fall
And many will die
While you climb and crawl
And swallow your lies

Your house will fall
And you will die
When big dogs maul
Your mouth and eyes

It cannot stand
Your plan so grand
Your cash in hand
Your evil plan
