How Christ Was Born... Poem by Dr John Celes

How Christ Was Born...

O come all ye shepherds!
Come see the new born king;
-The only Son of God
Emmanuel by name.

A boy is born in Bethlehem;
-A child in swaddled clothes;
In a manger, upon hay, he sleeps;
With Mary mom beside.

An angel choir sings above
‘Gloria in Excelsis Deo'
Hosanna in the highest!
Heaven rejoices for this morn.

The star of Bethlehem stops o'er
The inn where the baby's laid;
The freezing night and failing light
Mean nothing to the child.

The child brings joy and peace to earth;
The love of God is born with mirth;
Hail O King of kings, Jesus!
The Savior Christ is born.

The Word has become flesh at last;
The unseen God in Christ is seen;
Gods plan of redemption of man
Through Mary's womb is now real.

As wise men three come from the east,
With gifts to worship the new-born king;
The incarnation is now true,
As God is seen by me, and you.

Born of a virgin immaculate;
-The Holy Spirit's seed;
With wisdom, power, it grows well,
To gladden mankind indeed.
