How Many More Days Poem by Rick Elpers

How Many More Days

Just a glimpse have I been given
A taste to hold in memory
And you would think that's enough
As this on going life permeates
With desire bigger than I
That it would seem a punishment
To my soul and heart
Not to acquire the fruits
Enjoyed by so many
Who squander away without care
The rewards that god bestows
As I here obtain only a taste
And must set it free
Praying that which is spoken of
In the afterlife is far superior
To this world
I await thee
With an open heart
