How Many Nights? ....

IT is the darkness of the enclosure
that is trying to kill me
it is your face that mocks me
it is not time
that befriends me with a basket
of its mellowing
the flowers of youth
its petals falling one by one
to the sands of
of loneliness finally slipping
through my fingers.
