How To Change Poem by sam t

How To Change

The patient stops smoking because he lost his lungs,
The persecuted reconsiders before speaking in tongues,
The divorcee thinks deeply before he has to choose,
The athlete trains daily so his team won't lose,
The fisherman wears a life vest because he once nearly drowned,
The prince takes time to strengthen his relationships before he is crowned,
The young boy doesn't play with matches, to avoid another burn,
The ex-drink driver checks twice, before making his turn,
The prisoner repents his sins, after years confined in chain,
I only change my habits, when I learn through pain.
