How To Date An Insecure Girl Poem by Laura Clayton

How To Date An Insecure Girl

Tell her that she’s perfect all the time
And don’t stop just because she says “I don’t believe you”
Cook her all her favourite foods that she won’t eat anymore
Because she thinks she’s too fat
And remind her that Buddha looked like a beach whale
But he is still worshipped by millions of people
Hold her hand every time you go out
And don’t allow her to let go when it starts to get sweaty
When you catch her putting make up on in the morning
Grab the eyeliner pencil out of her hand and snap it in half
And tell her that she doesn’t need any beauty products
Because she is already beautiful
When you are about to make love
Don’t let her get away with leaving her shirt on
And caress her body so tenderly and lovingly
Show her that you adore every inch of her temple
Afterwards, lay down with her for a while and hold her shaking body
Look deep into her eyes and tell her that you love her
And when she starts to cry,
Don’t get mad because it’s the third day in a row that it’s happened
Put your arm around her and ask her what’s wrong
And when she murmurs “I don’t deserve you”
Kiss her harder than a cop slams a criminal against a car
And say to her
“You are the best thing in my life”
