How To Flee The Pit Poem by Michael P. Johnson

How To Flee The Pit

In churches strewn in every land
Sinners to saints will turn
Patient eager to understand
To live and not to burn

In life! how oft have you been caught
By hell's demonic hoard
Not behaving the way you ought
Without God's Christ as Lord

Without The Father's living Son
Not held within His hand
Not standing till each battle's won
As God ordained and planned

How oft did you slip, stumble, slide?
How long did you follow true?
Faithfully as a virgin bride
True love expects of you

The Lord our God, is no dictator
Despot, one should fear
As Father! there's no one greater
No one's love more dear

Receive salvation, heed Heaven's voice
Let self and devil's fall
Give Christ your soul make Him your choice
Accept The Bridegroom's call

All past failures, faults, God impart
Seek nought, nothing to hide
Trust in Jesus give Him! your heart
Prepare Life's Cloud to ride

So long has Jesus been yearning
For blind lost souls has grieved
For the minute few discerning
Whom His blood soaked cross believed.....
