How Wrong Can One Man Be? Poem by Roy William Gotaas

How Wrong Can One Man Be?

Rating: 5.0

Judging by the average:

I thought I was tall enough -

But I look up to you.

I thought I was clever enough -

But I’m a child to your wisdom.

I thought I was brave enough -

But I shake with fear at the thought of losing you.

It seemed to me:

That I was strong enough -

Till your smile brought me to my knees.

That I knew beauty -

Till I saw you.

That I loved music -

Till I heard you laugh.

I was certain:

That nothing could surprise me any more -

Till you revealed yourself so amazingly.

That I had no ambition left -

Till you offered me promotion to your arms.

That I could trust my dreams to no-one -

Till you took my life into your gentle hands.

I thought my perception was good

But still I don’t understand why you care for me.

This is true though: I’m filled with gratitude

And that’s the rightest thing about me.
