In this poem you state the spiritual goal and then call upon Christ to fulfil it for you. Hindus call this belief bhakti - the mystical love between a god and worshiper. This is spelled out in the Bhagavad Gita which was written about the time of the Gospels, you could say Jesus and the soul is bhakti, and the Gita is a New Testament in Hinduism. I say these things because I am a multi-faith believer. A given religion can be alone the center of your life or you can blend many together. But we want to affirm our human unity. What we don't want are religious wars like the Thirty Years War in 16th century.
