do you remember
when i said antarctica
thats the place for us
you packed a bag
filled it with shy
raisins and restless
baguettes
we got to the cape
all washed in
sweat, jumped in
to the purring bulge
of the ocean
crazy like the sharks
our toes giggled
in the chill, your
smile was all milk
and sunshine
i stole the purple
from the tulips
in your eyes and
you screamed
sludge!
for the ice was
under breast as
swollen pillow
the air crisp
origami paper
recycled tissue
the lungs swelled
a forgotten future
the penguins shook
into dogs rabid
for free range
eggs
you held my
chuckling fingers
by the tips
of their ache
and led me to
forest moist. moved
to tears i woke
you for
breakfast.
